Kingsport



Kingsport is a city in Sullivan County on the Holston River. The community was named for William King, who built a boat yard along the river. Kingsport covers a total area of 116.6 km² (45.0 mi²) of which 114.1 km² (44.1 mi²) of it is land and 2.4 km² (0.9 mi²) of it (2.07%) is water.

The city is nestled between the Appalachian and Great Smoky Mountains. Kingsport enjoys a mild climate with an annual average temperature of 66 degrees Fahrenheit. The city receives an average annual rainfall of 54 inches and average snowfall of 16 inches per year.
